The final class in our Garden to Table series was led by Chef Jamie Allred from the renowned farm-to-table restaurant Fortify in Clayton, GA. The class was held on Thursday, May 12th in the Food Bank’s Teaching Kitchen. Students brought in pictures of themselves with their container gardens which were hung on the teaching kitchen wall. This culminating course reflected just how much Mrs. Lunsford’s 4th grade homeroom has learned in the Garden to Table series. The students chopped, diced, sliced and stirred; utilizing the cooking skills they’ve learned throughout the course to help Chef Jamie prepare a salad, kale meatballs, spaghetti and a tomato sauce. Vegetables grown by the students in their container gardens were featured in the meal.
