Cooking Matters for Mrs. Kennedy-Bridges’ Class by Susie Burton


Students at Habersham Central High School cooked up some turkey tacos and homemade salsa this week, as part of their participation in a Cooking Matters curriculum series.  Cooking Matters, an initiative of Share Our Strength and administered in Georgia by Open Hand Atlanta, provides curriculum resources for students to learn about the importance of healthy, economical, and delicious cooking techniques.  Ginger Kennedy-Bridges’ class cooks every Wednesday to learn about knife skills, how to build a balanced meal, and how to make healthy swaps in traditional recipes (hello, lean meat turkey tacos!).  They also learn to work with fresh produce and to be adventurous eaters.
