Hey! Give me some space!

FoodCorps service member Sumer Ladd used yoga poses to introduce Habersham County 6th graders to the concept that plants need their space, too.  Students moved through growth stages, starting small and close, then spreading to realize that a crowded garden might not grow so well.  Students learned to calculate surface area and determine appropriate seed spacing using a variety of garden bed shapes. Habersham County sixth graders found out that it doesn’t take that much space to grow a lot of food and that they probably have enough room in their own yard to start a garden.
