Forsyth County Fed Their School Georgia Grown Produce for a Week

For the past year students at Sharon Elementary School in Forsyth County have been learning about Georgia Grown, farmers and growers in their area and the great taste of local produce. As part of the “Feed my School for a Week” project, Sharon students ended the year with a week-long celebration (April 21-25) that included a daily lunch menu that provided over 75% Georgia Grown products.  Students also enjoyed educational sessions held in the garden.  The sessions included the school nutrition program’s “School Food Feud”, a word game that taught “contestants” about good for you foods grown in Georgia and a visit from the dairy mobile classroom.  On April 25th, special guests, including Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, were treated to a presentation by the school choir and additional learning sessions throughout the day.   Everyone had a great time!!
